The Ritz Launchpad Night of indiexplicity- There's been an indie night running in Newcastle since before the dawn of time called Stonelove, an ageing behemoth that you end up going to every week even tho it's full of chavs, strippers and scenesters and YOU HATE IT but there's no where else to go. Eventually we got bored of drinking ourselves blind on black sambuca just so we could stomach it and decided to do something proactive. David has taken on Goliath, and if we haven't blown them out of the water I think we may at least have given them a slight migraine. Yay! Downstairs we've got some young turk DJ's who play music that I'm nowhere near cool enough to know about, but some examples I've been given are..*ahem*...Good Shoes, Larrikin Love, Metric, Gang of Four, To My Boy & Cansei de ser sexy (who I actually saw live last night and were AWESOME. I am now a proud owner of a lovely CSS T-Shirt that I think I acquired in a drunken klepto state). Upstairs in the latebar we have Geoff Leopard and Fat Pauly, and again my musical knowledge falls short here, but apparently it's 'a mash-up of everything good from the 80's with a helping of guitar classics, disco, hip hop & funk'. All I know is it's great to have a leap aboot to, and that's good enough for me. 10.19.06 [ 421 views ]
