My first official photoshoot
So I have been spending several hours adding the archives of old photos (Digital Photos) I have shot during my life. The very first images I shot with a cheap 1.3 megapixel camera were on June 18th, 2000. That was when I had forked over about $100 for what I thought to be the greatest invention ever! A 1.3 megapixel digital camera. It was a Kodak DC210. I was a kid with a new toy, photographing everything I could. The first thing I had to do was take pictures of myself! When I got home from the store that day, I found myself taking pictures of a crime scene when I discovered that someone broke into my home and stole most of my valuables. Ugh.
Anyhow, It only took me a few months (half a year) to realize I was limited by the small amount of features it came with. In early September, I forked out close to $900 and purchased the cool "Sony Cybershot DSC-F505". This thing was awesome. Not only did it look cool but it took some nice pictures.
Still, I was only starting to learn about digital photography so I was by no means even to be considered a beginner. Yet, I was photographing everything I could. Again, just like a kid with a new toy.
Other people around me saw that I had a slight passion for photography and assumed I was a "professional". However, I did not see myself as anything remotely close to being a beginner. I was just a guy with a camera who liked taking pictures for the hell of it. I knew nothing of composition, lighting, or any other rules/guidelines of photography. I only new of different program modes on the camera and that they took different looking pictures. Sometimes if there was some crazy blurry or ghostly looking shots.. I thouhgt I captures the baddest shot ever.
A couple months after buying the Sony Cyershot F505, someone asked me to do a photoshoot of some of my fellow co-workers (Navy Personnel). They wanted to add photos of the "fire crew" to the "Cruise Book". This was officially my very first photoshoot. If you check out the album, there are some out takes in there as well. Looking at the pictures today... I would say all of them were out takes!
I am still in the process of adding my archives of pictures to my Sixth Sun Photography website. The archives are not part of my portfolio so they can be found in the "Personal" category.
Note: I wasn't sure if I should upload any of these old ass images to 476ad. I figure 476ad is more of a party and fashion culture photo blog so I just linked the mentioned albums to my website.
